Why do we offer more than what is required by Yoga Alliance for a standard 200 hour training?

At Community Yoga we believe in really nurturing leadership and personal development. Yoga is a practice that requires the dedication and self compassion to truly develop as a person as well as a facilitator. We want to insure our facilitators have the tools, understanding, and confidence they need to be successful, competent, and positioned to fully embody the gift and experience of teaching yoga to others. The training not only has more hours than a standard training, but it also has considerably more support, given that the training provides students with the opportunity to “live their yoga” grow and engage in community projects over the course of 9 months. Shawn and Jax are available for one-on-one meetings and inquiries between immersions.

Community work experience, social service experience, and experience with specialized populations a plus. Because we will be training to work in non-traditional settings with specialized populations, our enrollment process will consist of both the enrollment form and a personal history. This training will demand a high level of self-reflection, diversity, social competence, and cultural competence.

Enrollment is limited to ensure depth and quality of the experience.
